four drunk guys
“I guess it is the same as the bible since it was written before any of us where alive. Who should believe that. For all we know 4 guys that where drunk could of written that.”
Four guys who were drunk could NOT have written the Bible.
Whether it is true or not true.
I dare you to make a comment like that regarding the Koran.
We know that we can not just accept the word of any one and every one who says this or that. They might have been drunk or deceived or seen an illusion or a hallucination or they might be lying on purpose. We Know that. Explorers spent years looking for the giants on the east coast of South America because the first guy there said that he saw some. On the other hand sailors have been telling us for years that there are at times waves on the ocean that are fifty, sixty and more feet high. Science said ‘impossible’ – till recently. Science is Definitely NOT infallible – you may laugh at the Pope declaring infallible Ex Cathedra statements but what are you all doing with scientists ? (“When a Pope speaks from the chair (cathedra) of authority as the visible head of all Christians, his teaching is infallibly Christ’s true teaching.”) (Catholic I am not)
Back to the Bible. The Koran was Not written by some one who was drunk. Charlie D was Not drunk when he wrote Mine Kamph - no, Voyage of the Beagle, what ever else he was. No one accuses Marx or Hitler of being drunk. Mother T? No. The whole business of finding the truth IS complex, no doubt about it. Knowledge is increasing exponentially but the more we know the more we realize that there is more that we still do not know than what we have figured out so far, more by far. How people’s heads work is still beyond us. How do these people do compound complex math so fast? How did Edison think up all that stuff? Where did Einstein come up with all that he did? People are capable of some realllllly great stuff. And some reallllllly horrific stuff.
Still, Yes. It is like the Bible in that the people who said they saw mastodons were a couple of generations ago and the people who wrote the Bible lived even further back. BUT IF it is true that Jesus did rise from the dead, as the Bible says He did, then He should still be around. Somewhere. Can He vouch for the Bible?
