" Companies developing genetically modified crops risk creating the biggest environmental disaster "of all time", Prince Charles has warned.

Prince Charles told the newspaper that huge multi-national corporations involved in developing GM foods were conducting a "gigantic experiment with nature and the whole of humanity which has gone seriously wrong".

"If they think this is the way to go, we will end up with millions of small farmers all over the world being driven off their land into unsustainable, unmanageable, degraded and dysfunctional conurbations of unmentionable awfulness," he said.

Relying on "gigantic corporations" for food would end in "absolute disaster", he warned.

Anti-monarchy Campaign group Republic said: "Prince Charles is quickly making his position as heir to the throne untenable with his meddling in politics."

"likely to rankle with the government"
Dr Julian Little, chairman of the Agricultural Biotechnology Council, said he was "disappointed" by the Prince's comments because "they do not seem to be based on any solid evidence". "

So let me get this straight. Prince Charles who soon could be THE HEAD of state - in lots of countries around the world is 'making his position as heir to the throne untenable with his meddling in politics'.

! ! ! ? !

Oh, I got it !
We would much rather have the Big Corporations run our daily lives, than a politician.
For once someone in politics - someone who IS politics, is trying to do / say something about the fact that non elected non political people are running the country for no other reason than profit and power and it is time to put a stop to that.

Good for Prince Charles !

Like I don't know that Charles was NOT elected to his position.
Like I don't know that there are VERY few Honest politicians any where in the world even if they ARE elected ! Democracy is NOT the all in all, end all to all the world's problems.

GM people have NO solid evidence that what they are doing is safe !! To be disappointed about the Prince's comments because they 'are not based on any solid evidence' is like the pot calling the kettle black. Like - - -. Charles has enough evidence of what big Corporations do with public money and public confidence / trust that he knows that he can NOT trust them to have the best intrests of the world in their heart - if indeed they have such a thing ........ !

GM Corporations out to save the world ? ?
