The heavens declare

I was reading a column in the Ottawa Citizen on line today, where the author made two comments.
“Readers keep asking me what is my alternative to "Darwinism"? I don't have one.” DW.
God created the animals ‘after their kind’. I think that He had fun creating for example the platypus. Is it mammal or reptile? Then you get down to the small things are they plants or animals? Is a virus alive? Are Hypos and whales related? (re an article in BBC yesterday) I think God had fun making them with similar DNA just to screw around with the “family tree”. In reality Hypos and Whales are NOT related. God made each kind and in the Garden they were all there from the beginning. What is amazing to realize is that God had some foresight when He made them. He put into each of them enough alternative DNA that they, within species, can adapt to changing circumstances. If you took all the dogs in the world and put them all together for a hundred years what would you end up with? A dog that looks like they did a couple of hundred years ago? Someone put a bunch of different breeds of cattle together for I don’t remember how many generations and lo and behold he ended up with a critter that looked like they did two thousand years ago. Charlie D saw a bunch of finches that were all different on his trip and used that to bolster his ‘natural selection’ but they were still all finches.
“But here is my basic thought, in all its naive glory. The splendour of nature and the heavens used to serve as an overwhelming persuasion to the idea of the holy. Now it is converted to the uses of scientism. How, without interfering with real science, do we take it back?” DW.
This is a good question!
My first thought is start training lots of real scientists! Second retrain teachers. Teach them to teach facts. Third start re-educating the media people. Books, radio, TV, internet, all these people haven’t learned, it seems, how to report the facts to us.
I like astronomy but unfortunately “evolution” has gotten a very strong grip on that science too. What are the facts? What do they see out there? Do they know? I suggest that they do not, they have no more idea what is really out there than I do. With biology and geology they can get their hands on the evidence but with astronomy? hummmm? No! The Bible says “the heavens declare the Glory of God” I am one of those that suspects that there is more to that than meets the eye . . .
Whoever thought of giving groups of stars names and meanings? I suggest that God did. How did God tell Noah that a flood was coming? Was Noah an astronomer? Could he see it coming? When they built the Tower of Babel what were they trying to do? They were smart enough to know that they could not build a tower tall enough to get to heaven. They built to study the stars. To be forewarned of another flood. (kind of reminds me of the asteroid hunt in progress looking for those that might threaten earth, they read in Revelation about a mountain burning with fire falling into the sea?) Maybe they knew that Noah had learned of the last flood by seeing it coming so they were going to be ready for it. Of course they missed the fact that Noah had God interpreting what he was seeing for him. Genesis does say that God created the stars as signs . . . Next. God took Abraham outside and said “look at the stars if you can put them all in order – this is what your son will be like” (a bit of Ian F free translating) The New Testament tells us that God was NOT talking about Isaac; He was referring to Jesus. What about Jesus? That he would be born of a virgin, Virgo; that he would be the judge, Libra? The scales; that He would come from Israel, Jacob one of the twins, Pisces (when Jesus was born the wise men from the east had God – by way of Daniel? – interpreting the meaning of the star for them?); I don’t know, this is a suggestion. Astrology got started at the tower and is a corruption of the message board that God originated?
God didn’t get it back, He gave us paper to write on and later a printing press to reach the masses. Interesting, the first book printed was the Bible, look what they print now! It is unfortunate that the wonders of the universe have been taken over by the forces of scientism, humanism and unbeliefism. How do we get them back? By teaching people about God and most importantly what Jesus was doing when He came to earth.
