And I Thought

Tonight on the way home I finally saw deer, two of them, at Deer Meadow. That is a golf course not far from Edmonton just where I turn off of the Yellowhead. I trundled my way north and turned west to stop at Busby to get gas. Not far west of there I spotted three deer across a field by the trees. Unfortunately again there was a car not far behind me so no sudden stops and I didn't get a good look at them. As I went down around the little lake I thought to my self that it was just on the other side of there that I saw the eleven deer so I slowed down. Sure enough there were three, in the same field and again about a half mile away. When I stopped I saw that there were three more up the hill. I turned off the car and the longer I stayed the more I saw. The record now stands at eighteen in one place at one time. I only saw one buck among them. I decided it was time to go but mindfull of having seen one deer only a short way from there I took it slow and sure enough there much closer to the road and out in the open were five more. They were aware of me and tried to look nonchalant as they made their way not to fast over the hill and far away. From there I drove up over the big hill right into the most spectacular display of the sunset. Down the hill, turn north again and off to home ... but not without seeing two more deer. Thirty, 30, deer in one day!
