Pangaea
“A Stegosaurus fossil has been discovered in Europe, marking the first time the famous plated dinosaur has been found outside of North America.”
Now it will be harder than ever to assert that Pangaea never existed !!

“Still sleepy after your first three double espressos? Try eating your way to wired. Caffeinated doughnuts could be the next new thing in nutriceutical fast-food to hit your drive-through or walk-up breakfast stop. Each pastry, or bagel if you were to prefer this caffeine-delivery system, would contain a jolt worth one to two cups of coffee.”
They just can’t stop messing with our food. Drugs in our designer eggs, seeing eye vitamins (A) in our rice, herbacide resistance in our canola, the list goes on and on. Oh me. Maybe I should have one of those doughnuts !!
Trans fat is a product of partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, which is oil injected with hydrogen and catalysts like platinum or palladium to change chemical bonds, giving "food products" a longer shelf life. Trans fat can be found in vegetable shortenings, some margarine (the hard variety) and some cookies, crackers, snack food, fried foods, doughnuts, pastries and baked goods.
Unsaturated fat: The healthiest. Liquid at room temperature. The USDA says a good diet should include these fats, which come from fish, nuts and vegetable oils, to provide essential fatty acids and vitamin E.
A typical adult should consume the equivalent of 5-6 teaspoons of oil a day, or around 60 grams. Only about 20 grams of that should be saturated fat. And be warned: The FDA food-labeling law allows levels less than 0.5 grams per serving of trans fat to be called "trans fat free."
Yep, definitely neeeeeed a couple of those doughnuts !
Western leaders must convince voters of the benefits of globalisation, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said.
Me, I am not convinced.
The Edge by Ford - a hybrid car capable of running on a combination of compressed hydrogen and a battery pack that plugs in to an electric socket.
The vehicle, GMC Volt, will be powered by new-style lithium batteries which will plug into your garage electricity socket.
So far I have failed to see the great savings in green house gas. It still does take as much power to produce hydrogen as it makes available to one’s car and electricity still takes more power to produce than what reaches the car to be used. Unless you are going to nuke the hydrogen or electricity and make our kids and grandkids pay for the upkeep on protection from radiation ….
We could turn off the streetlights …
Science has the power to … help cure the sick. But as amazing and beneficial as science is, it cannot explain everything.
A list of paranormal things that science can not explain
1. the placebo effect
2. ESP
3. death or near death experience
4. UFO
5. Déjà vu
6. Ghosts
7. people disappearing
8. sixth sense
9. Bigfoot
10. the Toas New Mexico sound, only about 2 percent of Taos residents report hearing the faint low-frequency hum sound
A man in the US has fallen 16 floors, 300ft and survived. How?
We could ask if science has really explained some of the things that it claims to have done, such as gravity. Still it does remain that mankind has discovered a whole lot about our world and lots of it is really interesting, exciting and wow.
Science has come up with so many theories about things that have become the truth – but somehow they are always changing. ?? What are the people who argue so stridently for the truth of evolution as the origin of the diversity of life as we have it going to feel when they confront their grandchildren who have a new totally different truth ?
Ah well, it remains that no one has yet come up with a solution to the moral depravity of man and left him with a unique individuality and the freedom to make choices and be his own person. No one except God that is.
“The lawyer of an Israeli couple who won the right to use their dead son's sperm to inseminate a woman he never met says the case is a boost for family rights.”
Is the boost for family rights a boost for the family itself ? Maybe we should back up and ask, Who is family ? Then we could go to what are family rights ? The family was, is, and always will be immediate blood relatives. But my goodness the definition is taking a beating from every which direction and then some. For every law there is exception and somehow the exception has in very many cases grown to be bigger than the law itself ! Now a days the ‘family’ by definition is pretty well anyone whom you choose. I ask, “Why?” Is it perhaps because what family really is, carries something special that those redefiners want in the worst way, so they use the word to at least add the connotation and thus the illusion that they have what they want ? Like ‘gay’? By the way did you notice that by my definition a couple with no children is not a family ?
When I first saw the headline I thought that perhaps the sperm had been ‘donated’ before death, but then I realized that that had not been the case. “… court ruled in favour of his parents who had the sperm extracted after his death …” If the sperm had been donated before death there would have been one question but now there is another. “The Cohen family took legal action after the hospital where their son's sperm was stored refused to release it, saying that only a spouse could make such a request.” Not only is there the question of not legally married people having children but there is also the complication of having one of the parents being dead even before conception ! I might ask why the hospital removed sperm in the first place when they knew that the man did not have a spouse ? What next ? Weddings after one partner is dead ? Kind of like paying someones way out of the bad place after they have expired? Did the good Dr. who extracted the sperm spend any time at all reflecting on whether he / she should be doing such a thing …
The boost for family rights turns out to be to the detriment of family.
How did that go “Fools rush in where angels fear to tread …
So Lois wrote a Prize winning article entitled "Why the world does not need a saviour". The world does not recognize what they might need saving from.
Themselves.
It seems that the more 'civilized' we get, the more self destructing we become. I do not pretend to know when the end of the world will be but I can prognosticate the end of Europe / North America. It happened a couple of generations ago. It is a tribute to the greatness of society as it was, that it has taken so long for us to fade away. While the Bible is not the only rule of faith and practice for us as human beings it is true that any one who uses it that way will be better, much better, for it !! While it is true that Alexander conquered the world and that Rome ruled it for a long long time it is also true that neither of them nor Kubla Kan or anyone from the Middle East or India or China or Africa or South America or any of the other "great cultures" of the past ever put a man on the moon.
You are going to have to go a long long way to prove that it is Not the Bible that put man on the moon !! The Bible is the only place where the problem of the downright corrupt nature of the individual person is given a solution.
Death and Resuredtion !
Any thing new?
Other than iphone.
Or itv.
Nothing new with Canada. Or the US.
The optimists are still prognostocating progress and wealth and so on.
The others are still ...
Nothing new in the Middle East. Or the USSR ...
BUT
This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are New every morning.
Great is your faithfulness !
Let us search and examine our ways, and turn again to the Lord !
A Vatican composer is to stage an opera based on Dante's Divine Comedy, with visions of heaven, hell and purgatory.
"Reports suggest heaven will be full of classical style melodies, the limbo of purgatory will be illustrated with Gregorian Chant, with hell full of more jarring music.
Frisina said the use of rock music to describe the devil's den was not a value judgment on the genre but that rock's 'violent and rebellious tones' help create 'a hellish atmosphere'."
Amazing !
Try and suggest that perhaps there can be a value judgment made on rock and every one is up in arms saying you can't decry rock. But it is "violent and rebellious" in its tones.
That is what I have been saying since it was created ! That is why I do not like it or listen to it !
